Apple ‘Mini-Stores’ Are Coming to Target

If the thought of bellying up to the Genius Bar at an Apple store strikes you as a bit intimidating, help is on the way. Target (NYSE:TGT) has confirmed earlier rumors that it plans to open Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) mini-stores under its own roof. So, in addition to picking up some t-shirts, dish detergent and frozen entres, you’ll be able to grab an assortment of Apples wildly popular consumer technology as well.

As often happens when it comes to always top-secret business moves from Apple, the companys avid blogger-followers first reported the news last week, this time at Apple Insider.

Target, which will initially add the Apple mini-stores to 25 of its existing outlets, is taking a page from a similar setup that Best Buy (NYSE:BBY) has had for a while. However, whereas Best Buy shoppers are already looking for consumer electronics, Targets customers are more likely there to buy sheets or toilet paper. Whether theyll stop at the mini-store and fall in love with an iPhone 4S or iPad 2 remains to be seen.

But considering how little trouble Apple has had getting customers to buy whatever it makes, it seems like yet another win-win. Target just better hope it doesnt run into the kind of trouble that struck Apples own stores in China after the launch of its iPhone 4S was delayed there.
