Microsoft (MSFT) CEO Steve Ballmer said the company is not going to make a bid for Palm (PALM).
There had been speculation that the company might top the $5.70-a-share bid from Hewlett-Packard (HPQ).
(The theory never made any sense to me, but it was floating around.)
Speaking at an event in Mexico City, Ballmer was asked if Microsoft planned to make a counter-offer.
“No, we don’t,” he said, according to Bloomberg.
So that settles that; can we have the next rumor, please?
Palm today fell 3 cents to $5.81, but remains modestly above the bid price.
