It’s been a very low-volume week in U.S. markets, though not without its bursts of excitement. Friday looks to be extremely quiet too, with no major economic data set to be released. The Dow and S&P 500 are both in the black for the year, but the S&P closed on Thursday just 5.4 points, or about 0.4%, above its level at the end of last year.
Action overseas was mixed: HSBCs China purchasing managers index came in at 48.7 in December, a slight dropoff from November; European stocks were trading slightly higher.
Dow futures rose 10 points to 12,227; S&P 500 futures rose 2.2 points to 1,259.6.
Bankrupt airline company AMR (AMR) fell 39% after NYSE said late Thursday that it will delist the stock.
